In our ‘Border Crossings’ features section, we’ll be documenting our artist’s history, musical influences and personal studio production techniques to give you an ‘under the hood’ glimpse of what makes them some of the scene’s most exciting DJ’s and producers. We’ll be traveling around the globe shooting videos and taking photos of them in their ‘natural habitat’ and track their journey from humble beginnings to becoming key figures in underground music culture. Our first feature uncovers the musical career of American DJ/Producer Casey Hogan, a close friend of Immigrant from day one and consummate audio professional – working 15 years in the ‘Big Apple’ as a sound designer and engineer for TV and banging out filthy techno jams during the late shift.
After releasing his first 12” vinyl ep back in 1999 and dozens of releases since (and after a short hiatus from the scene bass fishing in rivers around around the US) Casey is back with as they say, a ‘bang’, via a thumping 12” vinyl release that epitomises his varied musical influences. The title track from the ep, ‘A Time Before Now’, is previously unreleased and was hand picked from Casey’s audio vault containing previously uncovered gems from the past 20 years. The track is just as relevant today and demonstrates Casey’s timeless production quality – the ‘stuff’ that makes legends.
